Data warehouses and data marts organize historical data for decision-making, employing techniques like OLAP for analysis. Chapter 2 explores the vital relationship between organisational strategy, competitive advantage, and information systems. Week 3 Chapter 1 Summary

Chapter 1 provides an introduction to information systems and highlights the significance of studying IT in today's interconnected world. It emphasises the concept of the continuous and increasing use of computer systems and the role of informed users in organisations.  The chapter discusses managing information resources, IT infrastructure, and various types of organisational information systems, such as application and departmental information systems. It dives into the impact of IT on organisational employees, managers, and society as a whole, including opportunities and challenges.
